Westside’s Jake Mount was nominated and recognized by the Lake Oswego Review as a finalist for their Amazing Kid Award this past week. Jake was acknowledged for the work he has done raising money for the Children’s Cancer Association through a basketball camp he has organized and run for younger children. 

Here is the excerpt from the article noting Jake’s impressive accomplishments: Mount has raised more than $5,000 for the Children’s Cancer Association in the past five years through a basketball camp for younger children (ages 4-12) that he holds during the summer. He organizes the camps in honor of Gage, a close friend who died of cancer on Valentine’s Day in 2011 at age 9. Gage was the only child of Lauren and Trux Dole, said Lauren Dole, who nominated Mount. “Jake wanted to do something to help other kids fighting cancer,” she says. She says what’s impressive is how long Mount has kept up this effort. He never forgot Gage, she says.
