Normansen, Jason

Department

Foreign Language

Jason is passionate about languages, which is why he’s so excited to be teaching Spanish and French at Westside. He earned a bachelor’s degree at Oregon State in both Spanish and French, and since then, he has tried his hand at Portuguese, Catalan, Arabic and Korean – with dozens of phrases from a handful of other world languages thrown in. He spent his early teaching career in ESL, first teaching English in Spain. He later began working with adults from all over the world and eventually decided that enrolling in a master’s program in TESOL at Concordia University was the right path.

Some of his hobbies outside of school include reading (usually science fiction, both classic and new), playing music on guitar and piano or just putting a favorite vinyl record on, finding great deals at thrift stores, cooking and trying new foods, and spending time with his wife Kristin and their new baby boy Leif.
