On August 30th the Westside Christian HS Girls’ soccer team officially opened their season with a 5-1 win on the road against Amity. Selah Joyce got the team off to a quick start with an early upper far post screamer that found the back of the net. Selah and Laura Staropoli each netted two goals, with Lilie de la Motte adding the fifth when she tucked it inside the near post. Seniors Mackenzie Turner, Lydia Polvony and Emily Curtis anchored the defense, with Mary Nordlund, Megan Larson, and Lexi Rodriguez rounding out a strong back line effort. Freshman Lauren Demaris provided quality play in the middle, while Grace Biggs, Angie Rivet, Gabrielle Lau, Kelsey Moore, Hollyn Dugan, and senior Kate Pitcher all contributing significantly.  The team’s next game is Sept. 6th at Portland Christian.
