“The Curious Savage” at the Alpenrose Opera House, located at 6149 S.W. Shattuck Road, Nov. 13 (7 PM), Nov. 14 (2 PM matinee and 7 PM), and Nov. 15 (2 PM matinee).

“The Curious Savage” is a play about a widow, Mrs. Savage, whose husband leaves her 10 million dollars. In spite of her grown-up stepchildren’s efforts to get their hands on it, she wants to make the best use of her inheritance the way she sees fit. With her money in negotiable securities, her stepchildren commit her to a sanatorium in hopes to “bring her to her senses.” There, Mrs. Savage meets a group of social misfits, whose quirks make it difficult for them to adjust to life. Driven by greed and dishonesty, the stepchildren are led on a merry chase in search of the bonds. With the help of her newfound friends, Mrs. Savage rids of her stepchildren and is enabled to establish her fund to help others pursue their hopes and dreams.

Through its quirky characters, we see how friendship, kindness, and affection is not entirely lost in a world so driven by dishonesty and greed.

The cast includes Hannah Badgley as Florence, Philip Mesa as Hannibal, Mercy McVicker as Fairy May, Christopher Kaetzel as Jeff and Sarah Moshofsky as Mrs. Paddy. Miss Willie is played by Ashlyn Carlisle and Dr. Emmett is played by Jonathan Saks.

The Savage Family includes David Madison as Titus Savage, Hannah Gouge as Lily Belle Savage, Jack Reese as Samuel Savage, and Natalie Brown as Mrs. Ethel Savage.

Tickets are available through the Westside Christian High School office and at the Alpenrose Opera House box office before each performance. Tickets are $8.00 for adults; $5.00 for seniors/students. For ticket questions, call 503. 697.4711.
