Southern Oregon Summer Soccer: Part II Back to Blog »
The WHCS girls soccer team just returned home from a three day trip to play a couple preseason friendlies. On Tuesday the team left early and traveled to Medford where they played a match against Cascade Christian HS. After an extremely competitive contest the two teams sat down together and consumed copious amounts of pizza provided by our gracious hosts and new friends at Cascade. Many thanks to Coach Mick Power and all the great folks at CCHS.
From there the girls headed to Lost Creek Reservoir for a swim at sunset and a night of camping, with S’mores and time around the campfire.
On Wednesday the team broke camp and headed to Crater Lake on an absolutely stunning day. The girls hiked to the lookout tower for a commanding view of the lake from the top of the rim. Then, a short drive later the girls arrived at the trailhead leading down to the lake where they swam and cliff-jumped into the incredibly clear blue hued water. A spectacular day at Crater Lake concluded and the team climbed in the vehicles to head to Eugene, but not before stopping for dinner in Oakridge.
After a night in the hotel across the street from the University of Oregon, the girls headed just down the road to Pleasant Hill. We again received a first class welcome by our hosts at Pleasant Hill and participated in another hard fought match with another quality opponent. We can’t say thanks enough to Coach Kris Dunne and PHHS for the arrangements and extra efforts to make us feel welcome.
A quick stop at Panera for nourishment in Springfield followed by lots of sleeping and reading in mostly quiet cars and the team completed the last leg of the journey to arrive safely back at Westside Christian. What an amazing adventure and great start to the upcoming season. We are truly blessed.
