Last Thursday, Dr. Barry H. Corey, the President of Biola University, spoke to our community during Chapel on the topic of “Kindness.” Dr. Corey is the eighth President of Biola University and author of the book Love Kindness: Discover the Power of a Forgotten Christian Virtue. Dr. Corey also hosted a meet and greet with WCHS students interested in more information about Biola University during lunch and our administrative team spent some time with our Biola guests to discuss the hopes and challenges of Christian education. We are grateful for Dr. Corey and his team to visit and share with our community.
Senior Brooke Piedra won the largest Oregon Junior Achievement Scholarship after placing 1st in a recent competition. Brooke submitted an essay and sat for a full panel interview before being awarded the $ 6,000 scholarship. She will use the scholarship to help begin her pursuit of a degree in Economics at Loyola Marymount this fall.
The 3rd Going to College Seminar is next Monday, October 19 from 7-8:30pm in the library. This is seminar # 3 of 4. Topics next Monday will be college applications and financing. Freshmen parents, this event is targeted to those with older children, but you won’t be turned away at the door should you like to attend.
Westside Christian High School is hosting 50 Christian college representatives for the NACCAP College Fair. It will be held in the Commons from 6-8pm and students are encouraged to register on this site ahead of time: Register Here
