Thank you to our community! We have completed and succeeded in our All Community Giving Campaign. Your generosity has provided $175,000 in funds.
Thank you for investing in Westside students.Your generosity will help Westside Christian students receive financial aid. In the 2020-2021 academic year, Westside Christian High School provided more than $280,000 in financial assistance to families. This supports us in keeping our tuition affordable for all students while maintaining a quality educational experience.
Thank you for keeping Westside safe.Your gifts will support us as we continue to prioritize the safety of our students, staff, and the greater community by providing perimeter fencing for our property.
Thank you for optimizing our technology.Your donations will help with technological advancements and optimization to ensure learning can happen year-round for all our students. We were grateful to provide a flipped classroom model this fall that allowed education to continue both in and outside of the classroom.Thank you for the donations, the continued prayer, and support as we enter our 40th year of providing exceptional Christian education. If you did not get a chance to give, and still want to, you have time as these needs will inevitably require further resources going forward. Donations can be made by clicking here.Blessings,Amanda Howard, Marketing & Alumni RelationsJohn Hynes, Head Of School

With nearly 40 years of educational experience, we are grateful to have served many than 2,000 Oregon high school students.
In a letter from Colt Gill to the Oregon Federation of Independent Schools he stated the following:"Governor Brown has proclaimed February 4 as Oregon Private Schools Appreciation Day. I’m
privileged to join her in honoring you for serving Oregon’s students.
Oregon has approximately 550 private schools offering around 50,000 students an array of
high-quality, specialized learning opportunities. These schools represent and serve the diverse
communities that make up our state.
The COVID-19 global pandemic has brought about a new level of coordination and communication between the Oregon Department of Education and the private schools of our state. My hope is that some of our learnings from this year and the deep cooperation can continue in new and creative ways in the future. While the Department does not oversee the activities of private schools in a typical year, we do have much to learn from one another and we should strive to maintain the lines of communication that have opened.I am deeply grateful for our partnership and excited about the progress we’re making for
Oregon’s students. Together, private and public schools equip the future leaders,
entrepreneurs and engaged citizens of Oregon."

Concurrent Credit Program
I’m pleased to share that all 11 WCHS courses which generated college credit through Warner Pacific University will now earn credit through George Fox University. The change is effective for this school year, and students will register for the courses later this month. The change was precipitated by WPU’s decision not to offer credit for our 4 Concurrent Credit Science classes this year. The move to GFU creates a partnership with a stronger post-secondary institution and reduces the cost of these courses for our students. Instead of $65 per credit hour, GFU will only charge $50 per credit hour. Everything else about our program, including the number of college credits for each WCHS course, remains the same as it has been over the past 7 years.
If you have any questions, please contact me at email@example.com.

Sports have looked very different this year. With Fall being a season with an opportunity for schools to create friendly competition, WCHS Cross Country Coach Ball took advantage of the opportunity for his team to run and compete against other Christian Schools in the area.
Westside's Fall Cross Country Season ended on October 30th at the COVID Christian School Championship meet held at Horizon Christian School.
On November 2nd, Coach Ball hosted an Awards Celebration for the student-athletes who participated. Three athletes were singled out for special recognition. As the only girl runner, junior Meg A. received the “Girls Team Award” since she was the entire girls’ team this fall. Freshman Miles C. was honored with a “Rookie of the Year” award as the fastest freshman. And junior David Dugan was recognized as the season’s “Most Outstanding Runner”. Congratulations to each athlete for their accomplishments this season.
And thank you, Mr. Ball for creating a safe opportunity for Westside Christian High School students to compete and work together in a team environment.

This past January, Westside Christian High School’s Athletic Department inducted its inaugural Hall of Fame Class. There was a Formal Banquet held on January 20th celebrating the four individuals and two teams of the inaugural class.
As we head into the 2020-2021 academic year, The Hall of Fame committee has remained active. The committee consists of WCHS Athletic Director, Rob Casteel; Head of School, John Hynes; Teacher, Scott Wright; Administrative Staff, Caroline Hottman and Cassandra Tyner; WCHS Boys’ Basketball Coach, David Henry; Former WCHS’ Girls’ Soccer Coach and former WCHS parent, Mike Staropoli.
Due to COVID-19, a date has not been set for the second banquet. We are currently contacting our second class to inform them of their induction. This class includes one of Westside Christian’s current teachers, coaches, and alumna - Kayla (Brase) Wicks. As we continue to contact inductees, we are working with families, getting memorabilia, videos, and conducting interviews. This process of working with the families is very rewarding, I hear stories of what God continues to do in the lives of these athletes. The Hall of Fame committee will continue to update you on our progress.
