On June 4th, Westside students honored our graduating class. Four students shared how the Class of 2021 had an impact on their lives and time at Westside. In a genuine and emotional tribute, students reflected on the kindness, leadership, and talent of our graduates throughout the past four years.
The class of 2021 consists of 52 students, 19 girls and 33 boys. They will be going to 24 different colleges and Universities across the nation, from Oregon to Massachusetts, Hawaii to Oklahoma. Others will take a gap year or be partaking in internships. We look forward to see where God calls each of them.
"It brings me so much joy to see you using the gifts God gave you because I know every single one of you has so much talent in this room... And ya'll are the absolute greatest," stated Quinaby, WCHS Sophomore, while addressing her peers and the graduates.
The Class of 2021 has officially completed school. Tomorrow these students will be honored ar our annual Baccalaureate event. Next week, they head off to a senior trip and then return for their graduation on June 12th.
Attendance is limited to both these events due to current guidelines. However, we encourage our students and families to gather along the parade route from Metzger Elementary to Westside Christian High School to cheer and congratulate this class.
"I am such a fan of our class of 2021. They have shown incredible leadership and resilience in the midst of a really difficult year. And what I can see from where I sit is that the Lord has begun such a good work in them. I can't wait to see what He does in their hearts and lives as they move on into the next chapter," says Dean of Students, Mrs. Striemer.

With nearly 40 years of educational experience, we are grateful to have served many than 2,000 Oregon high school students.
In a letter from Colt Gill to the Oregon Federation of Independent Schools he stated the following:"Governor Brown has proclaimed February 4 as Oregon Private Schools Appreciation Day. I’m
privileged to join her in honoring you for serving Oregon’s students.
Oregon has approximately 550 private schools offering around 50,000 students an array of
high-quality, specialized learning opportunities. These schools represent and serve the diverse
communities that make up our state.
The COVID-19 global pandemic has brought about a new level of coordination and communication between the Oregon Department of Education and the private schools of our state. My hope is that some of our learnings from this year and the deep cooperation can continue in new and creative ways in the future. While the Department does not oversee the activities of private schools in a typical year, we do have much to learn from one another and we should strive to maintain the lines of communication that have opened.I am deeply grateful for our partnership and excited about the progress we’re making for
Oregon’s students. Together, private and public schools equip the future leaders,
entrepreneurs and engaged citizens of Oregon."

Concurrent Credit Program
I’m pleased to share that all 11 WCHS courses which generated college credit through Warner Pacific University will now earn credit through George Fox University. The change is effective for this school year, and students will register for the courses later this month. The change was precipitated by WPU’s decision not to offer credit for our 4 Concurrent Credit Science classes this year. The move to GFU creates a partnership with a stronger post-secondary institution and reduces the cost of these courses for our students. Instead of $65 per credit hour, GFU will only charge $50 per credit hour. Everything else about our program, including the number of college credits for each WCHS course, remains the same as it has been over the past 7 years.
If you have any questions, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Due to COVID-19, a date has not been set for the second banquet. We are currently contacting our second class to inform them of their induction. This class includes one of Westside Christian’s current teachers, coaches, and alumna - Kayla (Brase) Wicks. As we continue to contact inductees, we are working with families, getting memorabilia, videos, and conducting interviews. This process of working with the families is very rewarding, I hear stories of what God continues to do in the lives of these athletes. The Hall of Fame committee will continue to update you on our progress.
