Position Opening:

Choreographer – Bye Bye Birdie
Production Dates: April 25-27, 2024 (Tech week: April 18-24)
Schedule: Rehearsals are after school (starting after 3:10 PM); choreography rehearsals will be scheduled collaboratively with the production team.
Compensation: Stipend provided

Overview:
We are looking for a creative and student-centered Choreographer to design and teach engaging dance routines for Bye Bye Birdie. This role involves choreographing and rehearsing 4-5 dance numbers with the cast while working collaboratively with the Theatre Director and Vocal Director to integrate movement with music and character work.

Key Responsibilities:

Choreography Design:

  • Create choreography for 4-5 dance numbers that enhance the storytelling and musicality of the show.
  • Tailor choreography to match the abilities and strengths of the cast.
     

Rehearsals:

  • Teach and refine dance routines during after-school rehearsals.
  • Coordinate with the Theatre Director and Vocal Director to align choreography with blocking and vocal arrangements.
     

Performance Support:

If possible: Attend and assist during tech week and production weekend (April 25-27, 2024).
 

Qualifications:

  • Experience choreographing for musical theatre.
  • A passion for working with high school students.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with a production team.
     

Vocal Director – Bye Bye Birdie
Production Dates: April 25-27, 2024 (Tech week: April 18-24)
Schedule: Rehearsals are after school (starting after 3:10 PM); flexible scheduling is possible.
Compensation: Stipend provided

Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Vocal Director to guide and support our high school cast in preparing for Bye Bye Birdie. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with the Theatre Director and production team to bring the musical score to life, while fostering a love of music and confidence in our students.

Key Responsibilities:

Vocal Instruction:

  • Teach vocal techniques, harmonies, and ensemble singing.
  • Provide individual coaching for leads and ensemble members.

Rehearsals:

  • Lead after-school vocal rehearsals (schedule flexible).
  • Work closely with the Theatre Director and accompanist to coordinate and support vocal needs.
     

Performance Support:

  • Prepare the cast for production weekend (April 25-27, 2024).
  • Attend and assist during tech week and performances to ensure vocal quality.
     

Qualifications:

  • Experience in vocal coaching, especially in musical theatre.
  • A passion for working with high school students.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

Westside Christian High School (located in Tigard, OR) is seeking a permanent, part-time or full-time French Teacher for the 2024/2025 school year.

Purpose of the Position: The Teacher is primarily responsible for providing a classroom environment in which students have the opportunity to experience personal growth in the academic, relational, and spiritual aspects of their lives. This person is responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program specific to his or her course(s) that will result in students achieving this growth in accordance with the mission and vision of Westside Christian High School.
 

The successful candidate will be able to:

  • Develop and implement instructional practices and strategies that include multiple methods of assessment, support students in meeting rigorous learning goals and engage and encourage learners to develop deep understanding of content areas.
  • Challenges students to think and express their thoughts through engaging lessons and activities.
  • Planning instruction assessing student progress in content comprehension.
  • Update and maintain accurate and complete records of student progress and development as set forth by school policy.
  • Consults principal, specialist, other teachers in the school, and students in evaluating their own plans, methods, and results.
  • Develop and implement effective classroom management strategies; providing a safe, secure and respectful learning environment; communicating student behavior; expectations positively; conveying reminders, rules and expectations with consistency and equity, while recognizing the unique qualities and characteristics of the individual.
     

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Professional verification of successful classroom teacher performance and/or student teaching experience. 
  • Demonstration of experience with positive relationships with high-school aged students. 
  • An evangelical Christian commitment and lifestyle consistent with the school’s mission, including signing the WCHS Statement of Faith.
