For the Winter. . .
Cheer
Our Cheer Team covers two seasons (Fall and Winter), but their competition season is during the Winter. The girls had great showings at all of their competitions, but the highlight of the season was a 3rd place finish at the State Meet. In addition to all of their competitions, the girls cheered on the basketball teams at home games, and led the pep assemblies for all the sports teams.
Basketball
Girls' basketball continued their success from the prior year and advanced once again to the State Playoffs. Freshman, Ciana Tom, and Sophomore, Lucy Vanpelt both received 2nd Team All-league recognition.
Boys Basketball secured the #1 overall ranking early in the season and never looked back. With a 24-3 record, the 2025 season was historic.
The Eagles clinched the State Championship Boys Basketball title with a 65-47 victory over Pleasant Hill High School on March 8th, 2025, thanks to the outstanding performances of its talented roster of student-athletes.
Leading the charge was senior guard Jack Leland, who delivered a game-high 18 points, 5 assists, and 5 steals, earning the title of 1st Team All-State. The Eagles were successful all season long with unselfish play, resilience, and a shared commitment to excellence. The entire team’s performance exemplified the spirit of WCHS athletics.
Congratulations to the 2025 OSAA State Champions!
Spring sports
There are many different sports to choose from for the spring sports season. More than half of the student body enjoy participating in spring sports at Westside and the buzz around campus is great to be around. The weather is also remarkable during this time of the year, with mostly rain sprinkled with sunshine. However, this unpredictable weather does not stop the athletes and coaches as they work hard throughout the season in preparation for postseason success.
